Zionsville Fall Festival Parade 09/06

On a damp morning a group of the Corvette Indy members met at Paradise Cafe for a caravan to Zionsville High school led by John & Marg H. Even with the impending rain the group was at the parade starting point at their appointed time and soon joined by members that lived closer to the school. Those attending were hosts John & Marg H, along with Greg & Donna B, Jim & Bonnie S, Jim & Shelley N, Pat H, Barry R, John & Barb B, Bill & Erika L, Larry & Joy G, Bob & Sherry W, Susie H, Alan & Judy C, Joe & Kristin M and a friend of Joe's with his C5. As with all parades this was an arrive early and wait, but we all were entertained by the antics of the other drivers attempting to navigate the parking lot. With the mist still falling most of the ladies stayed in there respective Corvettes nice and dry while the guys huddled under several umbrellas that appeared. Near the appointed time of departure the mist stopped and everyone was able to give their rides a quick wipe to dry them off. Once the parade started it would move a bit then stop while the middle school band played their song, then they would move up a bit further and repeat the song again. It was observed by several former band members and band parents that their bands were taught to March & Play at the same time. The roughly 1.3 mile route took over an hour with more than half of the time spent stopped. This made the Zionsville parade have the record for the longest time spent in the parade that we do during the year. Butler Homecoming will not be as much distance, but will be a LOT quicker in time, so be sure to attend that one. Once done with the parade and several being held at the traffic light while the band crossed the street to it's bus most headed to Stone Creek Dining just off o Michigan Street. Greg B had let Donna catch a ride with Susie H as he was heading to South Bend and this weeks ND game. Once there, Jim & Judi A met the group to have lunch. The lunch at Stone Creed was good and everyone appreciated the time spent together out of the day's dampness. Note: In the GPS picture we did NOT reach a speed of 57, unfortunately the max speed had not been reset before the parade.
