Opening Day for the Indianapolis 500
Getting There

On May 11 Corvette Indy Club members converged on Penske Chevrolet at 7:30 AM to get lined up and ready to head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With an overcast sky and a fine mist we pulled out from Penske with 45 Corvettes and took off following a police escort to the track. There we met up with four more members cars that had caravaned with another Chevrolet dealer's group. With a showing of nearly 50 cars, Corvette Indy had a large number of Corvettes at the opening day ceremonies this year and our early departure meant our club was at the beginning of the line for the laps around the track.
