2020 Friday Night at MCL
For the members that don't like to cook Corvette Indy is the club to belong to. Along with all of our Drive N Dine opportunities there are the planned Tuesday & Wednesday evening meal spots along with the MCL near Keystone and 116th in Carmel on Fridays. The group usually gathers around 5:00 Corvette Indy time (which means arrive up to a 1/2 hour earlier). Know that the food selection is great, and conversation lively.

Slightly smaller but lively gathering at MCL this evening. It is always fun meeting with Corvette Indy folks. The Croy’s are already working on trips and events for 2020.
Thanks to Jim Alvis for the picture and notes

Friday's gathering at the MCL Cafeteria was very special. John and Carol Valentine drove their one-day old C8 hard-top convertible for everyone to see and appreciate. John had waited one year for his dream to be delivered. He explained his life-long admiration of Corvettes and the various delays along the way.

A little smaller turnout at MCL this evening but that did not diminish the interesting conversations. One of which was reminiscing about the car dealers in downtown Indianapolis in the 60s and 70s. Ray informed us that his mother worked for Johnson Chevrolet at 11th and Meridian Street. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the report and pictures

06/26/2020 John and Ruth Vess joined the "Farewell to MCL" Friday evening zoom meeting with host Janet McIntyre. The chat time was a bit lively at times. Topics included birthdays, beverages, birds & garden beauties of various flowers. As a special treat, John took the group on an outdoor virtual tour of the Vess homestead. Thanks to Janet for keeping the Zoom group going during the spring months. |

Janet McIntyre hosted our MCL Friday evening zoom meeting at 6:00 pm. There were 8 Corvette Indy club members present. (Cheryl & Bill Reynolds, Donna & Jimmie Driscoll, Elaine & Jerry Croy, Janet McIntyre, Sharon Arnold)
Topics were unbelievably random...
It is very interesting some of the things we learn about other club members during virtual &/or physical get togethers. We've learned more than once that Cheryl & Bill are White Castle connoisseurs. Donna & Jimmie D have become Old Fashion experts. Cheers to the Driscolls!!!
There's a possibility the Croys (Elaine & Jerry) are considering adopting a baby alligator while in Florida. However, they have to go before the judge and swear to never consider using the hide for footwear or traveling accessories. As a result, they're considering extending their stay an additional week. Sharon Arnold figured how to almost be in two places at once, but realized her zoom meetings were back to back on Friday...not at the same time.Thankfully, her prayer meeting was after MCL because, well, let's just say the group needed some extra prayers. Janet McIntyre has now taken on the role of storyteller.
If you'd like to find out more fascinating facts about other Corvette Indy club members, join the MCL Friday evening zoom meeting at 6:00 pm. Email our social director, Jimmie Driscoll, or Janet McIntyre for the link

Janet hosted the MCL Friday evening zoom meeting at 6:00pm. There were 10 Corvette Indy club members present.
(Cheryl & Bill Reynolds, Donna & Jimmie Driscoll, Dan & Marcy Walls, Elaine & Jerry Croy, Janet McIntyre, Ray Chester) Topics were, once again, fairly random.
Initially, Jimmie D's internet connection brought on a little too much static, but he worked it out. Thankfully, because Bill Reynolds' new pacemaker might have shorted out. He didn't want to sacrifice his Vette to get another one. Bill did leave early, though. Something about Cheryl and wine. The Croys are in Florida and having fun "working from home", so much so the may extend their stay. Jerry & Elaine had a nice visit with Susie Hale & Terry Sitzer....schooled them on zoom meetings. A couple of club members enjoyed the parade of 150+ cars at the Woodland Terrace Senior Living facility in New Palestine, while a couple of others did NOT due to road closures. Janet McIntyre delivered milk & cookies to winners of the Sew and Serve 500...a central Indiana organization who has sewn over 100,000 masks and caps for frontline workers. Plans for the Memorial weekend were varied, but the group is quite interested in learning how Dan & Marcy's "Snake Pit" party turned out. All are grateful, however, for those who served our country past and present. Lastly, "Tardy,Tardy late the Party" Ray showed up to the meeting just as time was running out. Reminder: MCL Friday zoom meetings are at 6:00pm

Janet reported that she again hosted our the Friday evening zoom meeting at 6:00pm. There were 12 Corvette Indy club members present. (Cam & Paul Amos, Cheryl & Bill Reynolds, Donna & Jimmie Driscoll, Linda White, Dan & Marcy Walls, Jeff & Carolyn Cox, Janet McIntyre)
Topics were, once again, fairly random, but not so many this week. They included...
White Castle....EVERYONE has a White Castle story;
Cam's special eggnog which led into the next topic of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation movie...
possible party ideas Jeff's dad's birthday party...we crashed it, sort of
We got creative with this week's zoom picture.
We were so deep in conversation, we missed an opportunity to snap one. Enjoy!!

Janet hosted the MCL Friday evening zoom meeting at 6:00pm. There were 9 Corvette Indy club members present...actually 10 because Gary McIntyre made a brief cameo appearance, but no photo for proof.
(Elaine & Jerry Croy, Cam & Paul Amos, Cheryl & Bill Reynolds, Donna & Jimmie Driscoll, Janet & Gary McIntyre)
Topics were varied and plentiful, but included...
Beverage service--better than last week, as most took delight in their beverage of choice; some more than others
Weather—beautiful, but very windy; a few got out to enjoy it; Bill was able to maintain his well-kept hair, not a wig, nonetheless.
Pants requirement--established importance of wearing pants to zoom meetings...in case you leave for a beverage refill & the camera is still on.
Dog food--JimmieD educated the group on dog food processing, corn is bad for dogs.
Florida/Disney--A couple families had to reschedule/postpone trips to FL this spring, the Croys are looking to go soon while their roof is being fixed; JimmieD is NOT going to Disney in October; Bill & Cheryl enjoy trips to FL, but advise against packing live sand dollars in your luggage...EVER.
Speeding tickets--Tennessee is a popular place to get speeding tickets (ask Paul &/or Janet), Paul desires to visit all 50 states just to acquire a ticket in each state.
Jack's birthday drive by event--very memorable for the birthday boy, his family and CI members as well.
Blind dates--JimmieD & Donna met on a blind date (he believes he has found THE one); Gary & Janet met on a blind date (she was supposed to meet his brother instead, but plans to keep this one); Cam's been on two blind dates (she's keeping the second one)
Jeff Cox's Birthday driving event--looking forward to what's in store for this year; hoping to actually have the event
Mother's Day--Happy Mother's Day to all our moms in the group.
Yes, we "ZOOMED" longer this week.

There were a few Friday evenings without pictures and then the virus lock down happened. Janet was the first Zoom host with her report and picture of the group. They had 9 Corvette Indy club members present, 2 of which connected from Florida. (Bill & Cheryl Reynolds, Paul & Cam Amos, David & Kim Pritchett, Dan & Marcy Walls and Janet McIntyre) Topics varied, but included: Beautiful spring weather and getting outside; Corvettes and convertibles -- make sure valuables are secured -- Paul Amos lost a check, Janet McIntyre lost a car rental agreement; Bill Reynolds' dog walking business; Today's Bi-plane flyover & tomorrow's A-10 flyover for front line workers; Military service, the draft & Vietnam; Working from home Getting out of the house & when -- Cam Amos is stir crazy; Month of May just not the same; Future zoom meetings -- possibility of themed meetings |
