2015 Mecum Indianapolis Auction
Member Jim A was the first of several to go this year an his report follows from Thursday May 14.
Here are a few photos from the Mecum auction on Thursday. There were tons of beautiful cars up for auction, but the car that really caught my eye was the the true barn find by Mike Yeager. Mike discovered the 1957 Corvette in 2010 and finally acquired it after 40 years of derelict storage. Although it is not a 'fuelie', it makes one wonder what that car would be worth today had it been properly stored and cared for. The Mecum auction is the biggest and best car show of the year, well worth the $20 entry charge.
On Saturday, after Drive N Dunk, Al F, Wylie & Rita E headed over to check out the auction. A bidder pass was purchased but not used as the only thing that interested Rita was an older Thunderbird which was later not bid on. The main thing that caught Al's eye were several '58 fuelies that were gong for the $140k range. They had a great time checking out the offerings of Corvettes and other great cars. Barry was also there and spotted the 39 Millionth GM vehicle produced which was a Special Gold 1958 Corvette to commemorate 50th Anniversary of GM production. It sold on Saturday for 2 million!
Also checkout Four Amigos Head to Mecum for a Friday's afternoon pictures and report from the auction.
