NCM Trip - Sunday Lunch & Tour
After a good night's sleep a majority of the group met at the National Corvette Museum before 8 Bowling Green Central time to head out on a extended drive to Tony York's on Main restaurant for an early lunch. Doug Johnson, who works for the NCM, was our leader in the day's drive and held a driver meeting in the museum. Then most everyone also took bathroom breaks before the the 17 Corvette Indy Corvettes followed Doug out to their first destination. After an hour and half or so drive the group arrived in a most unassuming destination, but what awaited them inside was unexpected. The restaurant in rural Glendale a small town SW of Elizabethtown turned out to be a destination of those that attend the Kentucky Derby. The elegance of the interior was extremely nice and the meal of fried chicken was exceptional. After the filling meal we took another leisurely drive through the tobacco fields and rolling hills of the area to the next destination of the Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon KY. While there the group was given the history of this branch of the Beam family of distillers. Once done some of the group was headed to Makers Mark while the rest broke off and made their way back to Indianapolis via different routes, some choosing I-65 while other stuck to the rolling two lanes of Kentucky. Another great weekend was enjoyed by the Corvette Indy club. Thanks to Paul and Londa for planning and executing such a wonderful trip.
