Mackinaw Trip - Thursday 08/20

Corvette Indy members Paul & Londa planned a repeat trip to Mackinaw that they had made a few years ago. They invited friends and members from Corvette Indy to go along for a total of 15 couples and a family of 3. With bright sunny skies on Thursday August 20 the group met at the Love station at Exit 214 on I69 to start a trip to Petoskey Michigan their first overnight stay. The vehicles on the trip were 15 Corvettes and a Jeep for the family. Once everyone had signed the waiver they headed up I69 where their first break of the day was just north of Fort Wayne. It was a well needed stop that was quickly over and the caravan was on it's way to a lunch stop at Schuler's in Marshall Michigan. This is a very old time establishment and Paul had arranged for a private room with a buffet for lunch, which was enjoyed by all. After the leisurely lunch, the group continued up I69 and then I75, then Michigan 32 adn US 151 to the Holiday Inn. Along the way we had intermittent rain and a few more appreciated stops, which also allowed the group to get back together. Although there were no issues at all with anyone getting lost. Once at the motel a number of the group got shuttle rides downtown for dinner. Everyone headed to the City Park Grill suggested by the motel, but then the second wave of members ended up at the Noggin Room Pub which the limo driver suggested as the Grill was packed. The Noggin Room turned out to be a really good choice as not only did they have good reasonably priced food, they also had live music, which was enjoyed by the group. Lesson learned, always ask the limo driver for suggestions for places to go. Upon heading back to the motel most everyone turned in as it had been a long day and they were to leave at 8:30 the next morning.
