ACA Rallies & Autocross
ACA Tim Harless Memorial Fun & Poker Rallies
This year's events were again held on the same Saturday as the Lincoln Tech Car show and 6 members in their 3 Corvettes headed out early to the rally starting point of Sam Pierce Chevrolet in Daleville. The afternoon was hot, especially while waiting on the newly sealed parking lot for the 2:30 start. This year had a total of 15 Corvettes and 2 metal cars enter. The rally got under way with each car leaving at 3 minute intervals. The 37 questions and driving instructions in order, but the two hour time limit was being held to as a team would loose 1 point for each minute over the time. The drive was on many back roads with room to turn around for those 'missed' clues. No one got lost and everyone had a good time and really appreciated the meal being held in the air conditioning of the Fireman's Lodge just off of 53rd street in Anderson. A tie breaker question was how many words can you make out of the letters in CORVETTE. It turns out there are 73 possibilities with the closest number being 27, as there is no 'U' in Corvette as some tried to use! Club members did fairly well in the scoring with Butch & Tammy getting a 4th in both the Fun & a Poker Rally (using the tie breaker for that one), while Bill & Erika got a 3rd in the other Poker Rally. Long time current Corvette Indy club member Randal S and his wife Amy who is an ACA member (they live in Anderson) got 2nd place in the Fun rally. The members also did well in door prizes from Al's microfiber sponge to Erika's Bath & Body lotion, there were a number of items to choose from. A lot of fun for all who attended and enjoyed the day and the great meal at it's end.
ACA Tim Harless Memorial Autocross
On Sunday Frank & Cathy headed to the Anderson Airport to compete in this year's autocross at the new location. It was a nice overcast but humid day where 24 drivers enjoyed a short , very technically challenging course. It was 50 seconds of fun for each of the 7 events!
