Super September 9/22 & 9/23
Saturday at the Grissom Aeroplex in Peru dawned windy, cloudy, and chilly with temps only reaching the mid-60's. The NCCC Indiana Region Autocross was well organized and sixty cars ran on Saturday with Cathy and Frank Coolidge and Butch DeWitt representing Corvette Indy in their endeavors to accumulate race points for the Region and Club. Assisting as workers on Saturday to flag corners were Bill Baird, Gary & Marian Cole, Tammy DeWitt, and Mark Hilligoss; due to shortage of workers, racers Butch and Frank also helped between their runs. After the racing concluded at 5 on Saturday, a wonderful pitch in dinner, featuring pulled pork and Butch DeWitt's famous grilled Pineapple (like eating candy) plus all the amazing salads, deviled eggs, and excellent desserts. Those electing to stay Saturday night in the area adjourned to their respective accommodations by 6:30.
Sunday arrived with sunny, nearly cloudless skies and our CI complement of Saturday workers returned and were augmented by much-needed Kimberly & Dave Pritchett, Keith Riley and John Vess. Seventy cars, including several metal cars ran the course with the event wrapping up by 4:30. Great weekend with great friends from the Region! Now let's make Corvette Indy's Main Event on September 29th and 30th the best yet!
Thanks to Marian Cole for the report and pictures along with the videos too!!
