Long Drive to Max & Erma's 8/30
With another great weather forecast for Thursday Greg and Donna planned for a Retirees and Hookey Player Drive N Dine to Max and Erma's restaurant, which is under 6 miles from their house. They had everyone meet at their house at 12:30 and started to roll at 1 with 13 Corvettes in tow. With their reservation for 2:30 they needed to add to time to the trip so they headed to the Carmel roundabouts then over to Eagle Creek, up to IN32 back to Spring Mill then North to W 193 st and wound their way over to Stuckey Farm Market. This was the first time stop for some of the new members and of course a repeat for everyone else. After checking the market out and multiple purchases made plus maybe a bathroom break or two, the group saddled back up and headed to their final destination. But before leaving Greg was called back into Stuckey's where he was presented with a new ND hat. The cashier had noticed the ND graphics on the beater when he and Donna a pre-run on Tuesday and had dug the hat out for him upon his return. Also in the parking lot there was a fellow on a bicycle that asked if we knew Jim Noelle. Of course the group did, and it turns out that the fellow is a pilot friend of Jim's and had actually talked to him in the morning. As it is said "it certainly is a small world". The group then went back on the same route until they got to Spring Mill where they headed to Main street and then over to Illinois and West Carmel Drive where everyone was soon lined up in the parking lot. The drive was certainly beautiful and even a bit spirited out on the wide open country roads that had been traveled on the day's route. A few other couples met the group there which certainly filled up the back room. Most everyone took advantage of the $5 burger special and at the end Bill got a special desert as his birthday is on Friday. He shared the chocolate cake with a number of the group still there, while Ray gave others some of the freshly baked cookies that he had ordered. Another fun Retirees and Hookey Player drive made in their Corvettes by members.
