2017 Meeting Nights
They are more that just business meetings as they have turned in to bi monthly social time with a quickly held meeting at the end. To take part in the full evening get to Champps by around 5:30, thereby beating the traffic and enjoy the time to meet new and old members before the 7:30 Meeting time.
We hope to see YOU there.

The first and only meeting of December was again held at the new Carmel American Legion location. Again the meal buffet was great and enjoyed by everyone. This was also the last meeting that Wylie presided over as President, along with Butch's last one as Governor, Erika's as Newsletter Editor, and Ross as Merchandise Director. A majority of the meeting was spent going over and approving Paul's Charity Committee report suggestions for the club's Christmas time giving, These donations will include four families, St. Jude.s Hospital, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, Julian Center, SAWs, and our long running charity SBAIN. After the reports were given Wylie handed over the club's gavel to incoming President Ray, after noting that it was originally given to the club in 1990 by Dick & Barb Satkamp.

The second meeting in November was at the quickly arranged location of the Carmel American Legion as Champps, which we had held meetings at since 2010, closed on the previous Monday with no warning. The venue was chosen by Wylie and Ray after checking out a few other suggestions that didn't pan out. To accommodate the club the Legion had a great dinner buffet or salad and soup bar for those that wanted a meal. Even though it was a new location and at least 80 members along with 11 Corvettes made it for the meeting that was just a few days before Thanksgiving. With the new room comes more space between the tables allowing members to now move around and visit before the meeting too. During the business meeting the officers made good use of the available sound system as they made their reports and discussed upcoming events including the Christmas party on December 9. Don't forget to bring a toy to it or to the next meeting. Along with other business the club elected a new News Letter editor Anthony Kuipers, and voted to keep using the Carmel American Legion as the club's meeting location for the first quarter of 2018.

The first meeting in November was election night. With that in mind nearly 100 members packed Champps along with a dozen Corvettes in the lot. With the number there the wait for meals extended to meeting time, but everyone finally did get something to eat. The meeting started with the voting and all positions were filled except for Newsletter Editor, which will be open as Erika will be done after December. Once the elections were done Wylie made presentations of a clock to the two long term members going off of the board, Governor Butch with 4 years of region service and Erika with 5 years of editing the newsletter. Pictures of the clocks are on the meeting night page. In other business Butch mentioned the upcoming Governors meeting and Tammy discussed membership renewals which must be in by November 15. She also talked about the link that members will get to print out their membership card once paid. Upcoming events include the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday November 11 and the Christmas Party in December. The driving season is closings so take advantage of any Drive N Dines if they are planned.

With great weather for the evening 33 Corvettes and 86 of our 327 members arrived at Champps for the last meeting in the month of October. Before the meeting the group of happy members had a great time visiting and had a lot of applause for Wylie when he started the meeting early due to the night's Colts game. The evening was the first night for club officer nominations and all positions have at least one person nominated except for Newsletter Editor, which will become unfilled after the December meeting if no one steps up. Elections will be held during the November 6 meeting. Upcoming events were discussed including the most important Butler Home Coming parade on Saturday and other club events including a DnD on Thursday, the Indiana Regions final competition Great Pumpkin weekend, and the much anticipated annual party at Rita's Spooktackular house, which will happen at the end of the month.

The first meeting of October was on a beautiful evening which brought out 40 Corvettes and 87 members, including two new ones that had just joined for a total going into renewals of 327. The newly formed charity committee had a short meeting prior to the main meeting that started early to cover all of the past weeks and upcoming events. Past events included the Brown County Fun Day where the club won the participation award along with multiple homecoming parades and region events. Upcoming events include several parades, the chili cookout, drives to "A Summer Place" and Restoration Station, Rita's Annual Halloween Party, plus multiple Indiana Region events in the final months of the year. Finally coming up will be nominations for club offices over the next two meetings with elections the first meeting in November. Multiple positions are open, be sure the read the newsletter for more information. The evening ended with another 'Battery Club" recipient being inducted as Keith had the unfortunate issue of a dead battery just as the Westfield Homecoming Parade stepped off and his Corvette was replaced by an Escalade with his court couple riding on top of it. He was started after the parade and got a new battery that evening.

The second meeting of September was a warm evening with varied forecasts so only 11 Corvettes came out along with the nearly 70 members there. The before meeting time went much better this week as we had our regular servers taking care of us in their usual efficient manner. The meeting itself was again quicker as Wylie got positive feedback on the new abbreviated agenda. Officer reports were concise along with multiple upcoming events including the Westfield, Lawrence Central, & Fisher High Schools Home Coming parades later in the week. Also promoted were the Indiana Region's NCCC Super September Autocross at Grissom, a DnD to the Beef House next week and of course a number of Fall Car Shows and the October first Brown County Day making for busy upcoming weeks. Be sure to check out the newsletter for even more events. The meeting ended a little after 8 with some then heading to DQ.

The first meeting of September was on Tuesday the day after Labor Day in a packed Champps, including some of our reserved back room. As it neared meeting time the room did clear enough to handle the nearly 80 members that were there to enjoy the quicker meeting agenda. To facilitate meetings from this point on President Wylie will just have reports from officers when there is information that needs to be mentioned by them, otherwise their full reports will be in the newsletter. With that in mind the meeting moved along including a report on the upcoming
Memorial Picnic at Southeastern Park 5624 S Carroll Rd, New Palestine, IN 46163 on Sunday 9/10
Other events discussed included several important homecoming parades and our long running charity SBAIN's annual Walk N Roll picnic later in September. The meeting ended a little after 8 with some then heading to DQ.

With rain in the late afternoon only a few of the attending 83 members Vettes ventured out for the second meeting of August which was just a couple of days after the very successful Corvette Indy Penske sponsored All Corvette Show at the Carmel American Legion Post. The recap of the show was a major portion of the meeting along with accolades going to all of the help given by CI members and thanks to all of the supporters of the show. This year there were over 225 Corvettes in attendance for possibly the larges all Corvette show in Indiana. We even added 16 new members during the show pushing our club's total near the 320 mark, an all time high. Upcoming events were also discussed including the Princess Car Show in Rushville which will have a caravan to it on Saturday 8/29. Other events include several important parades and our long running charity SBAIN's annual Walk N Roll picnic later in September.

The first meeting of August not only packed the Champps parking lot with 43 Corvettes, the back room over flowed into the main restaurant with nearly 110 members in attendance. In a quick survey by Wylie roughly 25% of those there had joined the club in the past year, showing how active new members are becoming as the membership number goes north of 300 again. The meeting covered a number of items with the club's upcoming Penske sponsored car show on August 19 at the Camel American Legion a major focal point. Since this is the season other car shows were discussed along with upcoming parades and other events including some short and long Drive N Dines that are being planned. During the meeting there also was a new inductee to the 'Gas Can Club' as Butch was able to pass his well earned gas can on to Ross, who actually had to be pushed in to a gas station for his win. The evening broke up a little after 8:30 with a number of the group heading South on Keystone to the DQ for after meeting treats.

It had been nearly a full month since the last meeting due to skipping the one on July 3. This brought out 33 Corvettes as the weather was clear but muggy and a final total of 73 members attending this meeting. Once underway the officer reports went quickly with Tammy announcing several new members and even more that will sign up before the Penske Car Show on August 19. That will push the club's total over 300 members again going into Fall. During the reports a quick recap of events since the June meeting were done, plus Jim's report on upcoming events over the next months. Among those events will be several car shows, the trip to Northern Indiana at the end of the month, and the Salem II trip later in the week. It was also announced that with the moving of Jason's deli from Carmel that the new location for the now every week Friday night dine will be 6:30 at McAlister's, our usual Saturday morning Drive N Dunk location. It was then suggested by some that sleeping bags could be brought in and save the evening home and then back again in the morning trips. Keep your email box open for Jim's emails as rumor has it that more events will soon be planned by several different members in the upcoming weeks so we can exercise and enjoy our Corvettes in the hopefully DRY upcoming days!

The last meeting of June started a bit early as we had speakers from the Hamilton County Humane Society informing the club more about their Pets Healing Vets program which the club will be supporting. This program is for Hoosier Veterans with PTSD and matches them with a dog or cat for emotional support. To learn more about this great project go to their website petshealingvets.com! After the presentation the meeting continued with a report that 86 members and guests were in attendance along with over 30 Corvettes including a potential new member's '60. Reports were concise and aimed at the numerous upcoming events in the next few weeks including Bloomington Gold's Gold Autocross, several Drive N Dines, and multiple parades including the annual Fisher's, new Bridgewater Club, and Carmel's 4th of July, ALL which have a dining opportunity afterwards! At the end of the meeting a new member of the battery club was also inducted, as he received the sample battery from the previous holder. This is an 'exclusive group' along with our gas club and locked out club, with several Corvette Indy members belonging to two or even all three! REMEMBER the next meeting is JULY 17 as we are skipping the usual first Monday's July 3 one.

The first meeting in June was another day of beautiful weather which brought out 38 Corvettes and 78 members including a couple that signed up that evening. A number of items were covered including the just completed Indiana Region's Putnam Park autocross where Corvette Indy members made up half of the workers. Upcoming events that were discussed included the overnight trip to Brown County Playhouse on June 9, the annual Crawfordsville Strawberry Car Show with a group leaving from the Noble Romans in Westfield on Saturday June 10. A call went out for Bloomington Gold volunteers for both the autocross that we operate and a few spots at the show as there is just one more meeting before the June 22 - 24 event. There is also a luncheon drive scheduled to Salem on June 20, with a second chance on July 20. The other big upcoming event is the Christmas in July dinner on July 15 hence the pictures of officers wearing leis during the meeting. Be one of the first 100 to sign up and you will have one of your own that evening. Watch Jim's emails for more info. It was also announced that registration had opened up for the 6th Annual Penske Sponsored Corvette Indy All Corvette Show to be held August 19. Remember that this is a free show to all club members and that there is a completely different set of trophies for non member participants. With the warmer weather finally here the Corvette Indy activities are starting to heat up.

The beautiful weather brought out 34 Corvettes and 80 members and guests. Wylie started the meeting a bit early to allow time for those who who wished to attend the Team Penske Indy 500 driver's autograph session at the dealership. The past weekend track day and two upcoming ones were discussed as Greg is attempting to fairly give out the passes based on being a Penske customer and active in our many club events. Another major event coming before the next meeting is the Indiana Region low speed autocross being held the weekend of June 3 & 4 at Putnam Park. It is a great venue and an easy way to earn Indiana Region points towards a jacket while working or driving in it. As everyone left it was an absolutely beautiful evening for the tops to go down and the roof panels come off.

Another day of crummy weather kept the Corvette count at 7 but the members at 75 attending, including one who signed up while there. With the first of the major weekends finished the meeting had several recaps of the club's 28th Main Event. Rain had certainly affected the operation but not the enthusiasm of the many members that had come out to work on the unfortunately mostly wet weekend. All were thanked and especially Butch & Tammy who had done much of the before event arrangements. Be sure to check out the multiple pages of Main Event pictures. Other items covered were the upcoming trip to Lafayette for the Vettes for Vets at the Indiana Veterans Home. There was also discussion of the sign up procedure for the upcoming Indianapolis Speedway track days that our great sponsor Penske Chevrolet gets many tickets to for them. These are club member only events on a sign up basis. Be sure to respond to the email for signing up.

As the meetings move closer to summer the Corvette and member count are increasing. The April 17 meeting had 31 Corvettes and 85 members attend including a new couple, bringing our club membership up to 281. The major topic of the meeting was the upcoming Main Event Autocross weekend of April 29 & 30 with a parking lot track cleaning day on April 22. There was also note made of upcoming events including parades and Bloomington Gold and it's autocross that we supply timing for. Several trips are also planned including a VIP tour of the Corvette plant and NCM Museum in the last week of April. There are also now eating opportunities on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week, and with the weather finally breaking look for many more Drive N Dines being planned on short notice.

Another meeting with storms predicted had the 76 members attending leave their Corvettes safely at home. The enthusiastic group though had their usual good time of visiting with the many members there, including some new faces as we are now at a 277 total for this year. Ross and Chuck were also selling the new design Main Event T-Shirts to those who had ordered them. Before the regular meeting there was a Main Event meeting with a number of those involved going over final plans. Look for an email detailing time and date for a work day to clean up the parking lot where this year's event is again being held. The meeting itself went quickly with the usual short reports. Wylie talked about his new monthly event which will be a Cruise In at the new Noble Romans on the South side of IN 32, just West of US 31 in Westfield with a 6 PM starting time. The new restaurant has a huge lot and hopefully the weather will allow a good gathering of Corvettes each month. It was announced that the Drive N Dine on Saturday April 15 to Greenfield Chocolatiers will have local press coverage and a street closed for parking. Good that that Greenfield's mayor is a Corvette owner and will join in on the fun. It was also announced that on this Saturday, April 8, the 3rd Annual Jim Kellam's Birthday DnD will again go to Half Moon Brewery in Kokomo in the afternoon. Another chance to get your Vette out as the weather is supposed to be dry. Check your emails from Jim Shaver for information on these and other upcoming events as they are planned. Remember too to "Save the Wave"

With thunderstorms and hail in the area just before the meeting's dinner time no Corvettes ventured out for the second meeting of March. With a different table setup due to a meeting date miscommunication, the back room did fill up with nearly 60 members by the 7:30 meeting time. Things went well with Ross "modeling" the Main Event T-Shirt that will be delivered during the next two meetings. Reports included a Main Event update along with a Not April Fool's 4/1 date approved for the next Penske Cookout. Also discussed was an upcoming trip to Bowling Green for VIP tours of the Corvette Factory & Museum at the end of April and the trip to NE Indiana Amish country in July which had 3 opening left. Member or not be sure to stop by our sponsor Penske Chevrolet on April 1 to enjoy freshly cooked burgers & hot dogs and check out new Corvettes too!!

The first meeting of March's weather was not a 'lion' but neither was it a 'lamb' as it was warm but very wet, so no Corvettes were seen venturing out. Even with a number of members having 'flown' south for March there were still nearly 70 members in attendance, can't wait to see the summer counts! With Main Event around the corner at the end of April there was a planning meeting at 7:00 with enthusiastic attendance. The regular meeting was started soon after and with reports and updates taking it until 8:15. During the meeting it was announced that Friday nights at Jason's will be a weekly event until they close or DnD's are planned for a Friday. Be sure to read the newsletter for the secretary's all inclusive minutes of the meeting.

With unusually warm weather for February of temperatures in the 60's - 24 Corvettes made their way to Champps for the second meeting of the month. This certainly was a late winter record, thanks to all of the members that keep their insurance in force just in case that there is a winter opportunity for a drive. After the usual before meeting socializing, the meeting came to order with Wylie back at the helm for what turned out to be a fairly quick one. Among items covered is that Main Event is only 4 meetings away with its April 29-30 dates. We also voted to support Pets for Vets as a club charity, read more about it in the newsletter. Also Al's birthday was celebrated with the hardest ice cream cake yet. Be sure to check out the meeting pictures for it and different views of the Corvettes in the lot. Also watch for emails from Jim Shaver on what to sign up for and help with the Club's Main Event autocross and other upcoming events.

The first meeting in February was a bit warmer but wet enough that no Corvettes ventured out. Over 60 members did attend though including Wylie who was recovering from surgery the day before! He did leave early and left the meeting in Paul's capable hands to be humorously run with officer reports and other recent club events being reported on. Plans for Main Event to be held on April 29 & 30 were discussed along with possible additional involvement in this year's Bloomington Gold events beyond our operating, along with the Indiana region, the Gold Autocross for the third year in a row. We also discussed a possible charity that would be supported by our Vette for Vets Car Show in August to again be held at the Carmel American Legion.

The first meeting in January was held for the first time in a number of years on the third Monday of the month due to New Year’s Day falling on the first Monday. This had given the club members a six week long break and therefore a number of items that needed to be covered since the last meeting. At 7 a board meeting was held to cover a number of the upcoming year events. This meeting was quickly followed by the full meeting with nearly 70 members attending. A number of events were discussed including trips to NCM and Detroit area, also that Main Event is being held at the same location at the end of April and the upcoming Winter Party on January 28 to name a few. As always look for Jim’s emails for additional club information.
