July 4th Carmel Parade 7/4/18
Carmel's Annual parade was again joined by Corvette Indy for the 27th constitutive year. This year's parade organizers only asked for 18 Corvettes, so of course we had 24 there at our club organizer Gregg's request. It was a hot day though, hot enough that we didn't have anyone walk the banner this year, but with clings & other signs they knew who we were. As in past years we met at the front of the 116 shopping area to sign waivers and such, then moved to our actual staging area in front of Carmel Kitchens where everyone tried to find shade. Thankfully Flix Brewhouse was open for those (most) that needed a restroom before the slow cruise down Carmel streets. This year there was the addition of new roundabouts and the very new boulevard in the middle of Range Line that added to the drive. Wylie was in the lead Corvette and as we turned off of Range Line on to Main Street he saw a number of parade watchers stand up and cheer for the on coming Corvettes. So we still must be a crowd favorite after more than a quarter of a century! Guess we need to let the parade organizers know too. After the hour long parade a dozen of the members headed to Scotty's Brewhouse to cool off and get some lunch. This year we actually got the board room at the back for a lot of privacy and chairs that were low and rolled around. Another perk of a great parade day.
