2018 Westfield Home Coming 09/27
Again Corvette Indy and Penske Chevrolet answered the call to supply Corvettes and Camaros to carry the Westfield homecoming King and Queen contestants along with other school dignitaries and the Mayor of Westfield getting rides in the convertibles. It was a cool afternoon, but the sun popped out just in time for the 6 PM start of the parade. The Corvette Indy members had again met at Noble Romans and tried smaller groups heading to the school. Unfortunately the roundabout again got clogged up, but everyone made it to their parking spots to collect their riders. Those meeting at Noble Romans with their Corvettes were Marian Cole, Rita Etscheid, Bill Lapham, Erika Lapham, John & Marg Herder, Mark Hilligoss, Tom Piercy. Barry Rector, Keith Riley, Steve Shepard, Charlie Sherman, Paul Habecker, Larry Stein, and Ray Chester, while Bill Reynolds, Jim Shaver, Linda White, and our parade coordinator Wylie Etscheid drove the Penske Camaros. Once the parade started it took about an hour to cover the 1.2 mile route which, as always, had a nearly solid line of parents and children along the sides. This year the organizers had a little better control of the crowds to keep them away from the passing floats and vehicles, but as in past years they got too close towards the end of the parade for the last Corvettes going through.
