Westfield Homecoming Parade 09/29
With this year's weather being warm and an afternoon free of rain Corvette Indy again participated in the Westfield Homecoming Parade. This is a yearly event where we support Mike Quinn of Chevrolet and his town's parade which encompasses more than just the High School as Middle School and Elementary students take part in the festivities. It is also a a major event in Westfield as there are many residents lining the route including lots of children (think Fishers Parade) waiting for candy to be tossed to them. This year the club responded the call for Corvettes with 19 Club cars and 3 borrowed from Penske for the short drive through the school's property. With that number the club represented roughly a third of the 58 units marching this year, with many of the dignitaries along with multiple court contestants getting a ride. The members started arriving around 3:30 and were all there a little after 4 for the 5:30 parade start. Those able to help out in their Corvettes were Barry Rector, Wylie Etscheid, John & Margaret Herder, Gary Cole, Jack Houtman, Pete Davis, Bill Lapham, Erika Lapham, Mike Lewis, Keith Riley, Jim Kellam, Tom Piercy, John Vess, Dean & Zoe Dolbee, Lynn Poirier, Joe Miller, Jerry Croy, Mark Hilligoss, and Steve Shepard & Ross Gullett along with Jimmie & Donna Driscoll, Bill Reynolds, and Jim & Shelley Noelle driving the Penske loaners and Jim Shaver, Linda White, and Marion Cole who were available to drive Penske cars but not needed this year. As can be seen in the pictures the streets were certainly lined with enthusiastic children, getting a little close to the passing units. It was a fun afternoon with everyone heading home afterwards to get ready for the weekend.
