2014 Veterans Day Parade

This year's November 11 parade date brought somewhat sunny skies and mild weather early in the morning as 15 Corvettes gathered at Greg & Donna's for the annual caravan to meet hosts John & Marg and another 9 Corvettes at the downtown parade site. Some of the drivers even noted that their outside temperature readings were in the low 60's on the way there. Once downtown the group was parked on the right curb near the Armory where coffee and donuts were served and restrooms available. We then were moved to the three abreast staging spot across from the Veterans Memorial Park by the Federal building. By that time the weather, as predicted, was starting to get colder so many questioned if they should put tops down for the parade. As the waiting moved on past the 11:45 start time, with the parade delayed due to sound equipment issues, the weather continued to deteriorate to the point that it was actually sprinkling as the Corvettes pulled away with their tops up and heaters on. The rain did hold off and the parade made its way around downtown in good fashion once started. Once done a number of the Corvette group headed out to Rick's where it finally poured while on the way and while inside eating lunch. It was Veterans Day and definitely worth getting the Corvettes wet to honor our deserving veterans. Those able to join in on this important day were the a fore mentioned hosts John & Marg H, with the following members meeting at Greg & Donna B's - Jim & Shelley N, Bill & Erika L, Keith & Carole S, Jeff B & Charity N, Susie H & Terry S, Pat H, Linda W & daughter Krissa H, Kim C, Michael S, Alan C. & friend Dick D, Jewell & Cecillia P, Jim S, Barry R, and Wylie E. Those that met the caravan at the parade site were a mixture of Corvette Indy and Circle City members including Bob H, Paul & Londa H, John & Barb B, Rich & Rita R, Randy P, Tony P, Eva Y. Then all the way from Wabash Valley Corvette Club were Mike S and Lynette W for a total of 3 Corvette Clubs and 24 Corvettes represented in our parade section.. Around 25 of those participants then joined in at the now becoming traditional lunch afterwards at Rick's Boat Yard.
