Main Event Saturday 06/08
The Main Event of the 30th year of Corvette Indy's existence was held for the second year at Grissom Areoplex as Indianapolis area venues are no longer available. With rain earlier predicted for the weekend it held off on Saturday with strong winds which did not allow any tents to be put up. The real surprise for the day was the number of competitors that came to run, with a final count of 55. With that number to be entered, including some that showed up a little late, along with a minor timing startup issues, the first cars out were near 11 am. The day then progressed fairly well with a few more timing and track issues. But with the large number Corvettes and metal cars it extended to 6 pm getting over with around 770 runs in. During the day everyone did enjoy the hot lunch that was served for workers and competitors, which fortunately there was enough of even if the cooks had to use both day's supplies. The wind never died down, but the day did stay dry so it was a great day in the end. Thanks to all of the Corvette Indy members that helped make the day a good one as many of the competitors gave the club a lot thanks for again putting on a great show for a continuous 30 years of autocross events.
