Indianapolis Grand Prix II
Members Views & Comments
As noted on the first page we had members that became part of the show and also worked the track corners.
Pictures taken by them and their comments follow.
Jim Shaver: I knew which car is Wylie's (he told me his top was down) so it was easy to pick his out. I got pictures of all cars as they came out of turn 9. Must admit I am pleasantly surprised at the quality/sharpness of the images. I was freezing and shivered all day. It was hard to hold the camera steady.
Wylie Etscheid: Everyone had a great time. Notice the pictures of some of our members we don't see as often. Evan Meagher, Jeff and Kim Schilling, Pete Davis and Janna Greene-Davis. Jimmy with the new dark red Corvette was just having the best time. Also it may have been one of the best caravans getting to the track.
Jimmie Driscoll's open letter commenting on their first track event: Corvette Indy Club, Donna and I are like the Coke can says "I'm on top of the world." We arrived at the meeting place to be escorted to the track. Just like all CI meetings, everyone is friendly and cool to talk to. While waiting, the public was eye balling the group of ten Corvettes. Many pictures were taken. One lady asked if we were going to race today, which was quite funny. Another Mom was driving her son around to see the Vettes, when we noticed that one of her tires was flat. I was on the way out of my car to tell her, when Wayne got to her first. This is an example of the fine character of this club. The Sheriff Captain was a veteran of these events; he gave me confidence of a safe journey. The caravan took off for the track. That was a special time, headlights and emergency flashers were on and made an environment of a grand parade. Arriving at the track we were greeted like royalty. Chevrolet people registered and staged us for the parade lap on the 500 back straight away. Wow, 60 Corvettes, various colors and models AND many really cool people. We met and heard Stefan Wilson, a Chevrolet race driver for K B Racing. The lap around the track exceeded expectations! We parked in a display area and walked to the GM Suite. We had good food and again great conversations with wonderful people. Including Madam Corvette; the Corvette Program Director. She was a delight to talk to. This Corvette Club is on top of the world fun. I can't imagine Corvette owners not joining this club. After arriving home, we were discussing what was our favorite part of the day. We couldn't come up any one time during the day, as it was all spectacular. Thank you so much for all y'all do to make stuff happen, Jimmie D and Donna Driscoll
