Sunday Brunch at Bookers 09/03
On the Sunday of Labor Day weekend the club headed to a favorite dinning destination of Bookers in Kirklin, which Jim & Pam Kellam had been planning to get a group there for the Sunday brunch for awhile. With Bill & Erika Lapham's help fielding the list of those going and taking the lead, a group of 16 Corvettes and a Cadillac from the McClure's on 31 went up 38 to the bank parking lot in Kirklin. Those able to go along with the hosts on the sunny morning were Paul & Londa Habecker, Mike & Linda Tann, John & Marg Herder, Randall & Amy Saathoff, Tom & Nancy Piercy. David & Jodi Hall, John & Ruth Vess. Jack Houtman, Susie Hale & Terry Sitzer, Jimmie & Donna Driscoll, Greg & Donna Bowron, Gary & Marion Cole, Linda White & 2 guests (using both of her Corvettes) and Keith & Jan Riley in the Caddy. The group of 32 filled the banquet room with everyone enjoying items from omelets made to order, biscuits & gravy, fried chicken, & fish plus a number of sides. If anyone left the table hungry it was their own fault for not visiting the buffet multiple times, as most did! With the large group Pam had gotten a reduce price of $10/person instead of the usual $13. Greg still asked for a 'senior' discount and was soon shown Pam's response to the request. In reality though everyone thought it was a great buffet that would not easily be duplicated in the Indy metro area at anywhere near that price, so the 1/2 hour drive certainly payed off. After the large lunch there was a chance to walk it off as all of the town's antique shops were open for browsing. In a couple of these shops Jim & Pam also have items for sale, which they were glad to tell members about. When the browsers had their fill some headed directly for home while others took the long way so that they could enjoy the beautiful sun of the third day of September in their Corvettes.
