Brown County Fun Day 10/04
With a good weather forecast for the annual Brown County Fun day a bakers dozen of Corvettes met our leaders in Mooresvllle at the Gray Brothers Cafe's parking lot to head down to the Brown County Park. A small group had caravaned from the North side, but most of the participants arrived on their own for the 9am starting time. A few even got up real early and met our leaders Butch & Tammy D for breakfast at Morgan's Cafe. Those able to go this year along with our leaders were John & Marg H, Dean & Zoe D, Mike & Shirley B, Jim & Shelley N, Wylie & Rita E, William & Sharon A, Bill & Erika L, Tom & Nancy P, Alan C, Barry R & Jeff B, Brent W, Chuck D, and last to arrive Kim C. With everyone either gassed up or drained themselves befort the group headed out a bit after 9. As we have done the past several years, the drive when led by Butch and Tammy, is a nearly 2 hour drive that takes the 'back way' to our destination. This year due to construction we seemed to go by many more of Butch's old girl friends houses than Tammy's old boy friends. The continuous mention of either one's past life had a number of the first time attending members in stitches. Next year's route promises to return to going by more of Tammy's past boy friends. Along the way we also encountered a lot of road kill, with possums being a major contributor to the count. Alan attempted to make a game out of it, but started too late in the drive. Maybe next year he can plan to keep score and have a prize for the most correct guesses. Once at the park the group met up with Chris & Paula W and Randy and Sherry S. As the morning progressed just over a 100 Corvettes made there way into the parking lot and settled in for the baked beans, BBQ, and Hot Dogs supplied by the Indiana Region and prepared by the Original Circle City and Indianapolis Corvette Clubs. After everyone one was done eating most hung around until 2 for the door prize and 50/50 drawing. Rita won the Corvette door prize, unfortunately it was a Christmas Tree Ornament not a real one. With the beautiful weather and the event done many then left with there tops off or down and took multiple routes back home still enjoying the beautiful fall day.
