Fishers Parade 06/26
Both Jim Shaver and Greg Bowron sent in pictures and reports of the annual parade the club participates in.
Jim's report: Thirteen cars made up the Corvette Indy entry in the 2016 Fishers Freedom Parade. We gathered in the heat at the Target parking lot a short distance from the staging area and then moved on to staging. We all crowded into the available shade in an attempt to beat the heat. Once we moved out it was a SLOW but steady pace. The crowd was a bit smaller this year but the smiles on the little children made it all worthwhile. After the parade some of us went to Granite City for a delicious dinner. We ate quickly and dashed home because we were monitoring the weather radar which showed a big storm on its way.
Greg's report: 14 Corvettes participated in the Fisher's parade today. This was down from last year but the very hot weather combined with scary thunderstorm threats combined to keep some parade participants away. The weather had its toll on the crowd too as it was noticeably smaller than last year's crowd. Still a good time was had by all and afterwards about 14 members caravanned to Granite City for a great meal. The waiter did a great job of getting us in and out in a very timely matter as a front was approaching from the west with a lot of red areas in the radar picture. The good news is that it was after 8PM before any threat approached the Indy region and we had a very warm but dry day and were able to enjoy the parade, the meal afterwards and get our babies home and to bed before the weather approached.
