Bob & Barb's New Arrival
On December 2 Bob got the long awaited call from Penske saying that "a Corvette hauler just pulled in and we think your C7 is on it". Knowing that it had been built two weeks prior he had been waiting for the news that it had arrived. With much joy Bob called Barb and several members to let them know that the 'Eagle has Landed!" and then headed off to see if was true. It was and Barb, coming from work, even beat him there! Also coming by to see the event were Bill & Erika, Jim, Sammy, & Greg. Almost to a person as they saw the car said "I thought it was Red not White" as the shipping cover was still on. It had been a long wait for Bob & Barb as they had seen the car during the C7 Reveal and were actually close to several on February 14 at the Chicago Auto Show. From that point on they started to design and find out as much as they could about the new model. One of the items Bob really wanted were the new competition seats, which were on a late release, so late that he actually gave up his first order spot to his friend and new club member Sammy. He continued to wait for the release of the seats, and finally decided to put an order in without them in August, but some of the other options were on constraint. In September Bob was told that the seats were available but that the two roof option was not, and that Penske had one Z51 slot available. He quickly changed his order to get the competition seats and the single transparent roof panel. The order also included the Z51 package, Magnetic Ride Control, Multi-mode Exhaust, 3LT Kalahari interior package including the Carbon Fiber trim and sueded microfiber-wrapped upper trim. The Corvettes exterior is in the optional Torch Red color with red calipers and Chrome Aluminum wheels. This is the first car that Bob & Barb have ordered exactly as they wanted and then awaited delivery. It was worth the wait as can be seen by the pictures. There are also a few pictures of a Lime Rock Green LT3 that was also delivered that day. With the same Kalahari interior it was a great way to compare the standard verses competition seats of the new C7's. Check out Tuesday's Delivery Day for more pictures of the two Vettes.
