Daddy Jacks 04/10/14

While at the meeting Jim and Judi A said they were planning a Dine at Daddy Jacks for Thursday afternoon. Upon hearing about their plans, and with the weather predicted to be in the 70's for the first time in 2014, Bill said he would hold a Drive Before the Dine to celebrate the good weather. So the afternoon started at Bill & Erika's at 12:30 with drive only hookey player John H, and Drive N Diners Jim & Judi A, Greg T, Jim S, Kim C & boyfriend Demetrius S, and club friends Rich & Rita R gathering for a trip before lunch. The drive lasted nearly an hour with a tour of some of the Carmel streets and then on in to the Zionsville country side. A few roads were found that were not straight, much to the delight of the Corvettes. With a watchful eye on the GPS and the anticipated arrival time of 1:45 to the lunch location, Bill finally got the group on to 96th street which was a straight shot to the Meridian street address. Once there the group was met by non drivers Shelley N, Bob Y, Terry S, Greg B, and later on Jim N who had just gotten back from a car swap in Chicago.  As always the discussions good especially since Jim N has finally gotten a build date for his Z51 of the May 5th week. Of course he was kidded about the possible strike and any other things that can now hold it up, but at least he is in the build que. The lunch choices were great and Bill & Terry took advantage of the Thursday brisket special, which Demetrius immediately had lunch envy once he saw it served. After Demetrius cleaned his plate, and both Terry & Bill still had to go boxes, he was even more upset. Finally Bill took pity on him and gave him a fork full as a sample for a future visit to Daddy Jacks. He vows to come back on another Thursday. The group had a great afternoon together and all got home prior to any rain that was due in later in the day.
