Super Weekend at the Brickyard - Grand AM Races

On Friday several Corvette Indy members worked the corners of the Brickyard Road Course. Those working were Bill, Darrell & Beth, Jim S, and Mike T. The opportunity came through an invitation to the club members from USAC, who was responsible for supplying corner workers for this race. All of the members were partnered up with USAC members that had done many races, as this was the first time for each of the members. It was a fun day, even if everyone got soaked by not one but three separate rain showers. The race was red flagged for a bit during the worst storm, but did run in the rain for most of the downpours. Not many pictures could be taken, as all were busy with their duties. The general consensuses was that we would all do it again.

There were other Corvette Indy members at the race as Penske made 8 race packages available through Matt our Penske contact. The ticket packet included one corral pass - so you could drive your Vette if you wanted to (see pics below), two Grand Am General admission tickets for each car, and 2 Hospitality Passes per car so you and your guest could enjoy a free lunch at the Plaza Village. Those able to make use of the packages were Brent & Betty, Butch & Tammy, Mike W & friend Jamie, another friend of Mike W, Eduardo & friend Kara, Steve & Maria (Eduardo's mom & step dad who are potential new club members), Jeff B & friend, 4 members of the Bloomington Corvette Club, Bud S, Gene C, Bob F and Harry B and all four are active members of the Brown County Shrine Club too. With one set left, Jeff was able to pass them along to a grateful race fan and car addict at the track.
