Saturday at Gold Autocross 6/24
After Friday's washout Saturday dawned cooler and very sunny. With the beautiful weather the workers from Corvette Indy and around the region quickly set timing and the rest of the course up for the 9 AM start. The spectators soon started to arrive once the two C3's with open side pipes started to run as they could be heard across the IMS grounds. Once underway the four Lingenfelter cars and a number of others started making the over 360 runs of the day. This was even with a few delays due to slide offs, one which hit a finish line light along with a mechanical problem that took awhile to push the Corvette back to it's trailer. During the day the line for rides with was long at times for the different cars that were giving them. This of course included the two Lingenfelter company cars, Danny Popp and his son in the Lingenfelter sponsored Corvettes, a couple of Optima cars including a very quick Camaro (just ask Butch) and a couple of Indiana Region drivers David Godfrey and Mike Bell were also busy giving rides to the extremely happy Bloomington Gold attendees. During the day there was also a number of new to autocross drivers as they took their laps that they had registered for. The day ended a bit before 4 so those of the workers signed up for the Gold Tour could get in line. The rest of the workers packed up all of the equipment in the club's trailer and headed outside the track before the tour got going, thus ending another three day stint at Bloomington Gold.
