Rick's Boatyard 05/23
On this Friday before the Indy 500 weekend Greg felt that he would be hungry and called for a Retiree & Hookey Player Drive N Dine. His starting location was a little unusual as we met at the Lincoln Tech Parking lot, that is because he had called a 'Look At the Lot" meeting prior to Main Event coming up in 3 weeks. Those that played hookey over their lunch hour to survey the lot were Butch D, Al F, Mike G, Frank & Cathy C along with eventual Drive N Dine goers Pat H, Bill & Erika L, Bob Y, Greg B, and Greg T. Once the meeting was over at 1, a few more members arrived to go on the short drive to Ricks. They were Jim & Judi A, Kim C & Demetrious S, and Jack H. Since Greg B needed to get back home to an ailing Merlin we took the direct route of I465 down to 38th street. Once there we met up with Donna B and Shelly N (Jim 'Sparky' N was on a car delivery road trip where he got to deliver a Spark) and everyone headed out to the deck for their afternoon meal. Once everyone had been seated it was observed that the seating area was cold as there was a stiff breeze off of the water. Greg lobbied to get us moved to a bit more sheltered spot, which was also nearer a heater. This helped, but it was still not optimum conditions, so Greg was sent to see it there was a jacket or blanket in the C6. He returned with a cloth napkin, which Donna used around her neck for the remainder of the meal. Service was not up to usual standards, with a couple of members not getting their meal until others were about done. After the lunch, most everyone decided to head for home by the shortest way, except for Bill and Jack who took a circuitous route, keeping off of the major roads and missing the Friday afternoon traffic.
All in all it was a great afternoon with a good group of Corvette Indy friends.
