Zionsville Bub's 09/24/2014
With a sunny sky and temperatures in the upper 70's Greg sent out a notice for a Retiree & Hooky Player' Drive N Dine on Wednesday, September 24th. Al & Terri F, Jim & Bonnie S, Dick & Bonnie P, Jim & Judi A and Mark & Donna S answered the call to steering arms. The group met at Greg & Donna's where Merlin the Magnificent demonstrated his Frisbee talents and caught everything Greg threw him except the one Greg fouled off that bounced high off the right field wall. A better pitcher would make a better catcher! The group headed out on W 79th to the Eagle Creek area and stayed together from the time they left Spring Mill Road to when they reached the restaurant with almost no metal car interventions! They wound around and enjoyed the empty country roads and the gorgeous early fall weather. The drive was uneventful if you don't count a brief pause to let the truck that was mowing tree limbs off the trees get out of the way, Greg's inability to read the "road closed" sign and he just drive around it, Terri's near coronary when Al passed the trash pick up truck and played chicken with the oncoming DHL delivery truck, the old buzzards that were circling some road kill (not referring to any of the group) and the two fire trucks we passed that were busy wetting down the still smoking embers of the farm house that had just went up in smoke. Eventually they ended up at Bub's in Zionsville where they all sat together outside and continued to enjoy the weather! Conversation ranged all over the board from politics, to college football, to telephones and email, to three boobs (again, not referring to anyone of the group), to California driving, to watching Judi catch sweat bees. The afternoon slipped away and started to turn to early evening and eventually everyone headed for home already looking forward to the next chance to get out and have some more Corvette fun! Thanks to Jim A and Jim S for the pictures that proved that it happened.
