Reroute to Charleston 8/31
With weather looking good Greg & Donna Bowron set up a Retirees and Hookey Player DnD to Charlestons in Carmel. They also turned it in to a celebration for Bill, as they had cake and ice tea for everyone before departing as it was his 70th birthday too. A good group of 11 Corvettes was able to make it on the beautiful afternoon. With Greg & Donna leading and Bill & Erika Lapham at the rear the day's cruising group was Jim & Judi Alvis, Paul & Londa Habecker, Jimmie & Donna Driscoll, Mike & Linda Tann, Susie Hale & Terry Sitzer, Linda White, Jack Houtman, Ray Chester, and Phil Vickery. The trip was without a few issues as Bill had come down Ditch to check it for Greg and had found that there was a one way section at the 106 roundabout, not good. So with that in mind Greg went to plan 'B' as he headed north. Unfortunately the atmosphere (or Russians) had the radios acting up with major interference. A quick stop to try different radios helped, but not until the group got North of 146 did they clear up fully. Since they were on route 'B' the group encountered a lot of traffic, including some drivers that were somewhat overwhelmed by the Carmel roundabouts. This traffic had Greg making further changes but the group, with some spirited driving, finally made it to his first stop of Stuckey Farm for a quick surveying of their store. Of course Donna B's favorite variety was 'just a few days away from being picked', so no Honey Crisps this trip. The group then mounted up and headed back to Charleston in Carmel for a typical Retirees and Hookey Player late lunch time. The food was great and with everyone at the table telling the server that it was his birthday Bill even ended up with a desert, which he took home. Another great day with the Corvette Indy group having a lot of fun driving their Corvettes around the Indy area.
