Bowling Green Planning Trip
With a large group going in August to the NCM's 20th Anniversary Trip Wylie decided to have a planning trip to check out routes, our central motel, and restaurants for the upcoming three day trip. On Tuesday April 29 a total of 15 Corvette Indy members and 8 Corvettes went along on the trip to help plan and just have fun! Those able to go along with Wylie and Rita in their C7 Convertible, were Jim & Bonnie S in their Z06 C6, Randy & Sherry S in their C5 Coupe, Alan & Judy C in their C6 Coupe, Bob H & Jim A in Bob's C5 Convertible, Bob Y in his C7 Coupe, and Corvette-less Jim & Shelly N riding along with Bill & Erika L in their C5 Convertibles. With Bill and Wylie collaborating on the route part of the group met at Bill & Erika's for a North of Indy start, then they headed to the Bob Evans off of I65 Exit 99 to join up with the rest of the group. From there they headed down I65 to Salem and over to IN 135 to start their trek southward. This route was planned to have some "Corvette Roads" and miss all of the I65 construction in both Indiana and Kentucky. It worked better than planned, as the day's threatened rain stayed away until just a few miles from their Econo Lodge motel destination in Cave City. Once at the motel, and finding it was not yet 3 local time, it was decided to head on down to Bowling Green and check out the museum and find a restaurant. Once there we talked our way in to see the sink hole and rescued cars that afternoon (see Museum Pictures) before our having the Wednesday tour. While there many credit cards were exercised with museum store purchases. Once done at the Museum Bob, Sherri & Randy had strongly suggested heading to Montana Grille for the evening's meal. We were certainly glad for the suggestion, as we all not only had a great meal, Wylie was able to get us a reservation for dinner on Thursday evening for the anticipated 35 members going on the Anniversary Trip! After the filling meal we headed back to Cave City with Wylie and Bob taking a side trip to Glasgow KY to check out a couple of motels that may need to be used for some of the group in August.
