Brown County Fun Day 10/01
This year's convoy to Brown County for the Indiana Region's Fun Day was again led by the club's knowledgeable Morgan and Brown county road experts Butch & Tammy. They again started from the Knuckle Sandwich restaurant where those that wanted to could have a large breakfast or get gasoline before the 10 AM departure time. With great weather forecast, even if a bit cool early, 20 Corvettes and 1 metal car met them for the start. The long line of Corvettes headed out and wound there way on country and state roads to Morgantown where IN 135 has a bridge out and a detour was needed. Unfortunately due to previous stop lights about a third of the group was in poor radio range and missed the specific direction, got down to the bridge and turned around to get back to the route Butch & Tammy had gone on. From there the rear group kept on the county road and ended up on IN 45 instead of cutting back over to IN 135 past the bridge because they missed the road the lead group had turned on. No real issue as the rear group came up to the IN 135 / IN 45 stop sign just as Butch drove by, so soon the group was back together and headed into Nashville. There another couple that had spent the weekend in Nashville joined up as we headed to the park entrance to enjoy the day. Once through the entrance the Corvette Indy group headed to the back of the lot as the main spots were already filled by the over 140 total Corvettes that came out the enjoy the day. As in past years the Original Circle City and Indianapolis Corvette club members provided the man power to prepare the food and set up and oversee the day. Also a poker rally had been run from Edinburgh where even a group from Danville, IL drove over to enjoy the day with several of them winning places in the rally. After everyone had eaten and wandered around meeting other Corvette owners and checking out their cars the Door prizes were given out and the 50/50 drawn. After the prizes were given out Corvette Indy with 49 members in attendance won the participation plaque. The afternoon wrapped up around 2:30 with everyone heading back to the Indianapolis area in what was still a beautiful fall day.
