Lafayette Rallies 07/12

Corvette Indy members Butch & Tammy along with Bill & Erika headed to Lafayette for the seven events being run on Sunday July 12 by the Lafayette Corvette Club. The day was predicted to be rainy earlier in the week, but once here it turned into a sunny and hot day. The couples met at the Love station and were planning a non I65 route to the Ivy Tech starting point in Lafayette. Unfortunately several closed state highways prevented the direct route, but they still got to starting point in plenty of time. Once there they joined the other 11 Corvettes they were signed in and soon heading off pm their route. This rally was a bit tougher than others as driving instructions were on one sheet and the questions on another. This led to easily getting out of sync with questions answered verses where you were in the driving instructions. Most everyone made it to the end point within the 3.5 hour limit, although one couple did get very lost and came in much later. During the tabulations of the 2 Fun and 5 poker rallies everyone got to feast on a huge barbeque dinner supplied by the club. The two club couples did fairly well as Butch & Tammy took 1st in one Fun rally, 2nd in the other and a third in a poker rally, while Bill & Erika got a 3rd in a poker rally. They also won a number of door prizes and had a great day of fun driving the roads around Lafayette.
