Vintage Racing Report
The Sports Car Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) returned to IMS for the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational on June 16-19, 2016. It is a gathering of historic, vintage, pre and post World War II race cars. The great thing is you can see them, hear them, and watch them participate in on-track competition. Unlike other professional racing events, spectators have full access to the garages and paddock areas, and are free to talk to the car owners, mechanics, and drivers. Probably the most popular cars at the event are the Corvettes, Camaros, and Mustangs from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. One of our new club members, Robert Pfeffer, is serious about this. He and his son Jonathan compete in Tommy Morrison prepared Corvettes from the Corvette Challenge days. Saturday during the Indy Legends Charity Pro/Am Fan Walk I bumped into members Al Forey and Dick Higgins. For anyone with the even the least bit of interest in sports cars, especially those of us in the older generations, this is a 'must see and hear'. The weather man was very good to us this year. Thanks to Jim Alvis for the report and pictures. On 6/27 Additional pictures were sent in and added from Jim Shaver - his are great views as many are from his corner worker position!
