Vettes N Vets Corvette Show 08/17
With rain in the forecast Corvette Indy still had a great turnout of both club and guest Corvettes at the Carmel American Legion of over 73 members and 109 guests. Most everyone was able to not get rained on as they drove in and all were soon doing their final clean up. The opening ceremonies were done at 11 with an American Legion color guard presenting the flags and both the National Anthem and Taps were performed live. Taps was even done by a Corvette Indy FCOA member Mitchell Kuhn, grandson of the Lapham's. As in past years the Pets for Vets group had a great presence with many attendees finding more out about the worthy cause during the day. With rain predicated for around noon many closed up their Vettes and headed inside as soon as they got their ballots done. The legion had wisely set this year's buffet up in the main room and many soon took the opportunity for a dry warm meal. With rain actually starting, the tabulations were done as quickly as possible and soon the guests trophies were brought into the room and winners announced. With that taking until after 2 the rain actually had stopped and most of the guests headed home before the next round of storms. For the Corvette Indy portion of the trophy presentation the remaining attendees headed outside to dry skies to enjoy the rest of the afternoons festivities. Once done a very tired group of Corvette Indy and remaining guests headed for home and some much deserved rest.
