​Annual Vettes for Vets Trip 05/04

This year's trip the the Indiana Veterans Home in Lafayette was on an extremely wet morning. Even with the rain 16 non melting Corvettes arrived at the Kroger for the appointed departure time and another couple met up the group in Lafayette. With Shep confidently in the lead the drive up was wet, but the rain stopped by the time the group got to the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater although it was still very damp. After having the usual hot dogs and gathering time the 97 assembled Corvettes headed up the hill to the home. Once there a few of the veterans were out and able to view the colorful display of Corvettes before the afternoon's ceremony where Corvette Indy presented their check for over $2200. This was added to the over $7000 total that was generated by those attending. With 18 Corvettes in attendance CI barley won the club attendance award over a couple of other Northern Indiana clubs. After the events were over a majority of the members headed back to Rossville and a very late lunch at Treece's, where everyone had a great meal to end the afternoon. The drive afterwards home was in the dry with even a bit of sun in the sky.
