Parky's Smokehouse 05/30
On nearly the last day of May a mixed group of true Hookey Players and Retirees headed from hosts Bill & Erika's to a club favorite Parky's in Lebanon. Those able to make the drive along with the hosts were Sarah L, Jack H, Jim A, Brent W & friend Ron S, Susie H & Terry S, Greg & Donna B. The drive up from Carmel included Mule Barn Road, the first time for many this year. Once in Sheridan and turning left on to IN 47 everyone made it except Sarah. Unfortunately there were several truck and metal cars in between for her to see the group. To confirm that we had not turned off, she pulled over and called Bill by phone. It was later found out that her radio had died at the beginning of the trip, and was not hearing any of the instructions. The group pulled over and waited a few minutes for her to get back on the route and catch up. Once she caught up, Greg let her in front of him as his radio was working fine. Continuing down IN47 they turned off on the country roads in Elizaville and took a few curves on their way to Lebanon and their destination. Once they got to Parky's they were met by John & Dianna A, and Butch & Tammy D. Butch had to go to Lafayette on business, and was taking the afternoon off after getting done to be a true hookey player. Once we were assembled the group got tables on the patio, the sun was a bit warm but most everyone had sufficient shade. Everyone had a good meal, the the waitress seemed a bit scattered, especially when getting the checks figured out. Once out side the group was greeted by a Zionsville police car, turned out the officer has a C3 and was checking out Bill & Erika's 'Ruby' who had come out for the trip. Greg, of course, upon hearing that he was a Corvette owner gave him a card and said that he should come to a meeting. We will have to see if he takes us up on the offer. Everyone headed out, after Brent cleaned the bird droppings off of his '62, fortunately no one else had been bombed. Susie was low on gas, but decided to head back to Indy, and was later reporting that she had 3 gallons left when she filled up, so she did NOT earn a club gas can award. A great time was had by all as it was beautiful day for a Retirees & Hookey Player Drive N Dine with the temperature in the mid 80's.
