Five 2015 Projects - #2
Engine Dress Up on the 'Beater'
Earlier this summer I had my friend, Jerry Burke at Collision Inc., repaint my hood on the 2001 Navy Blue convertible and spray the stinger on it a gold metal flake similar to the look of the Notre Dame football helmets. Jerry did a great job and both Donna and I really like the resulting look! All my Vettes have engine dress-up on them and this vehicle was originally done with Navy Blue and Aztec Gold colored engine pieces with some chrome accents here and there. The Aztec Gold, although a stock Corvette color offered in 1998, now clashed with the new look on the hood. I removed the pieces I could and took them to Jerry and had them resprayed the new gold color. I then removed the chrome intake cover and replaced it with a Navy Blue one, put some blue fuel rail inserts in the newly sprayed pieces, re-installed everything and replaced the badging on the side of my stinger hood. I like the results but I'm not done. The gold piece that covers the front over the supercharger still needs to be resprayed along with the alternator cover to complete the project. I didn't get that done because in order to remove the front gold piece you first have to remove the entire front body nose and I think I'll let Jerry do that as he is more likely to get it properly realigned than impatient lil ol me. Stay tuned, that's another day and another dollar....
