Butler Homecoming Parade 10/08
With a beautiful cool Fall day in the offering for this year's annual Homecoming Parade that had 15 Corvettes ready to take the senior court on a memorable ride to Hinkle Field-house and the start of the game later in the day. The Corvette Indy members answering the call were Barry Rector (newly retired from Butler), Tom Piercy (a Butler Grad), Wylie Etscheid, Pat Hogan, Erika Lapham, Bill Lapham, Gary Cole, Jim Kellam, Keith Riley, Mike Lewis, Mark Hilligoss, Tad Dewitt (our newest member), Butch Dewitt, Charlie Sherman (with his new GS), and as a back up Mike Tann. Since there were only 14 in the court Mike T choose to head home, but was really appreciated as backup as there had been a couple of the Vettes that didn't start well earlier in the AM (battery club potential?). Tammy and granddaughter Araya where also there and soon headed off to take pictures of Corvettes as they passed by on the short parade route. As Barry has always promoted "the Butler Parade is the Club's shortest and quickest" at .8 mile and 17 minute time for this year's it is easy to understand his statement. This year the parade ended in among the food trucks, an interesting spot to have the court disembark. The group of Corvettes then headed towards their homes to get ready for the annual Kellam Cookout making it a great finish for such a beautiful day.
