Duck Tail Run 09/24
Al Forey and a couple of friends (no one from the club responded to the announcement) attended the "duck tail run" (think men's hair style of the 50's) car show and Fairmont IN car show this past Saturday. We enjoyed comfortable overcast weather until about 4:00. We also enjoyed cruising on lightly used roads amidst corn fields between the two sites (albeit in the Highlander).
There seemed to be the claimed 3000 cars at Gas City. The car show at Fairmont seemed twice as big as before. We saw a couple of split window '63's, 60's muscle (Mopar, GM, Ford, AMX), 50's cars with chopped tops, sectioned, channeled, shaved, frenched features, louvered hoods, bagged(popular air ride suspension allowing car at rest to set on the ground), and grill swaps. Also attending were "flame throwers"(50's cars with flames emitting from tail pipes). Also several cars with engine swaps using the now popular LS engines (as in the C5's and C6's Corvettes). If you are a true hot rodder, these events are a must bucket list item. We saw license plates from many different states.
Thanks Al for the report and pictures.
