Trip to Ray Skillman Classic Cars 11/14
With the long lead time of over a week Al and Terri F held a Retirees and Hookey Player event to Ray Skillman Classic Cars in Greenwood to see all of the beautiful cars and other memorabilia that are contained there. Those attending were hosts Al & Terri F, Jim & Shelley N, Bill & Erika L, Jim & Bonnie S, Phil & Anita V, Charles B, Ross G, Tom P, who caravaned from Al & Terri's to Skillman's where Brett W, Mel M, John & Liz P, Rich P Dean & Zoe D, Neil D & his dad. The day was billed as a DnD with Corvettes being optional, which was fortunate as it SNOWED in the morning. Even with the light snow three brave members Phil, Charles, & Tom did drive their Corvettes while the rest used their metal cars. The drive down was sunny, but the temperatures never got above freezing all day. The museum is very nice with enough 50 and 60's cars to bring back many memories of what members owned and drove back then. It is also fun to see all of the signs along all of the walls which are worth more than a million dollars. After nearly an hour there and the group getting very hungry they headed out to a new to the club food location of the Ice House off of S West Street. There we were given the whole family room to allow for our usual boisterous conversations. The luncheon fare included build your own burgers or a huge tenderloin sandwich which several members got along with other menu items. There was a discussion of needing more buns for the tenderloins, with some saying they had big buns at home (or something like that). Car talk included Brett talking about his S10 pickup which is Corvette powered, see the pictures of it taken after lunch. The group had a great time and will certainly return in warmer weather as the parking would be fine after their lunch rush to have a large group of Corvettes.
