90 Years Young Party 10/07
Phil Vickery was about to have his 90th birthday and his wife Anita wanted to have a surprise party to celebrate it. To do this she worked with Greg to have a not quite official Drive N Dine to get Phil out of the house so she and his children could set up and pull it off. To do this Greg invited a number of Phil's friends that are club members to have a "DnD" on a Sunday leaving from Greg & Donna's house. To fully pull this off he had Jim Shaver send "official" DnD notices to Phil only, to get him to go along on the drive. The announcements said that it was to be a "mystery destination" since it was a special Sunday drive. On what turned out to be a beautiful day the group of about 28 Corvettes and two or three metal cars met at Greg and Donna’s for light snacks and refreshments, then headed north into Hamilton County. After clearing all of the roundabouts on Spring Mill Road, the group managed to stay together. At this point Phil was just one of the participants and not aware the drive ‘n dine was pre-planned to pull him away from his home so Anita and Phil’s family could set up the surprise 90th birthday party for him. Not until the group was heading east on Main Street toward his driveway did he catch on. Anita and the family had a catered meal, DJ, and more of Phil’s friends all arranged in one of his equipment buildings. It was a wonderful gathering to celebrate his 90th birthday, which is one week later which made it even more of a surprise.
Since the whole club could not be invited this DnD is posted under the "I Was There in 2018" page.
