Bloomington Gold 2016
This year's event was again attended and worked by many Corvette Indy members. This includes the Gold Autocross which Corvette Indy supplies the timing and track equipment for plus a number of workers. Members also assisted with volunteer jobs in the others areas of Bloomington Gold as needed. The following report, along with his pictures, is from our Face Book Editor Jim Alvis and gives a great overview of the this year's 3 day event .
Aside from the storm that went through the city on Wednesday night, the weather for the 2016 Bloomington Gold at IMS was fantastic. Corvette Indy members and friends volunteered to work many positions to help make the event a success. Thousands of Corvette owners from all over the country gathered at the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway to participate in the three day event that included Gold Certification, Autocross, Chevy Ride & Drive, laps around the IMS oval, Gold Tour, and more.
Lance Miller (Corvettes at Carlyle) visited the event and made an appearance at the autocross on Friday, June 24. Lance interviewed famous autocrosser Danny Popp and went for a couple of laps in his autocross-prepared C3. It was a sight and sound to behold – a truly awesome display of car preparation and driving skill. The sound alone attracted people to the track. Free rides were make available by the autocross sponsors Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and RideTech Suspension Specialists.
