Wine & Dine to Salem II 7/20
Salem #1 and #2 Drive and Dine
June 20, 2017 and July 20, 2017
We met at Brown County Winery near Nashville. After wine tasting, conversation, driver’s meeting and group photo, we headed off to 135S. On Salem #1, we had to make a detour on Houston Road due to construction. Everyone enjoyed the winding roads and beautiful scenery on our way to Salem, Indiana. We had previously arranged with the Mayor’s office to have cones put on the street to save sufficient parallel parking for our group. After getting the cones moved to the curb and the cars parked, we walked about a block to Christie’s on the Square for lunch.
At the restaurant, we were served criss cross sweet potato fries as an appetizer. Due to our group being larger than 12 both times, we were given a limited menu to allow faster service. Anyone in the group having special dietary needs, could also order from the main menu. Everyone enjoyed their meals including deserts such as carrot cake for Salem #1. Lemon meringue pie and peanut butter pie was the major choices for Salem #2.
After lunch, many participants did some shopping around the town square and explored the court house monuments for fallen local heroes from wars from the civil war to current. Some of our group continued their day in Nashville, IN while others headed home after an enjoyable day with good friends and good food.
Thanks to hosts Jimmie & Donna Driscoll for both trips and the reports.
