Putnam 10/10ths 10/23
On Friday October 23 Bob Y invited Bill L out to Putnam to watch the 10/10ths cars run. Upon entering the garage Bob ran into Sam, a friend who is selling his built up Z06 and trailer, those are the #47 pictures. After wandering around the garage area and Bob visiting with many more old friends they continued out to the paddock area where they found club member Mike G was also there and running. When they arrived Mike was in the midst of switching back to street tires, but was still going to make a few more runs. At that point he was kind enough to offer Bill a ride along for one of the sessions. They are over 20 minutes long and a lot of fun for Bill's first time at speed around the track hitting close to 130 into the first turn. After the track time, Bob took Bill on a ride in his Gator around the property which allowed for some different photo locations. Since Bob is a member they also visited the Putnam "Club" for a break. Back in the garage the 'Mayor of Putnam' as Mike had named him talked to a new Z06 owner who was at his first track day and really enjoying it. He also reported that he was having none of the overheating issues with his oil temp around 130, which is cooler than Bob runs on his Z51. This was good news to Bob, who is still on the fence about buying a Z06. Just as they were about to leave a Porsche GT4 showed up for the weekend with Bob salivating over just how race prepared it comes from the factory and if he won the lottery he would have one. A fun afternoon for several Corvette Indy members and others who just enjoy tracking their cars.
