2013 Brown County Shrine Club Car Show
On June 29, with rain in the forecast, a good group of Corvette Indy members got up before dawn and headed to Nashville, IN. Starting at Greg's house with Greg & Donna B, Jim & Shelly N, Dean & Zoe D, Rich P, Jeff B along his pit crew of Charity & Halo following in the truck the group headed out at 6:46. Along the way they picked up Bill & Erika L at the Shell station before getting on I465. with Rich & Suzanne B joining in along while going around the East side. As the group got near the I65 south exit Greg keep heading to the East street exit while several at first attempted to go South on I65. Fortunately they got redirected and followed to our next pickup point at Southern Plaza for a 7:30 departure. At that point new members Tom & Pat O, along with Randy & Sherry S, John & Diana A, Chris & Paula W, Paul H and guest Bill D joined along for the drive under fair skies. Once underway again Greg took us down Mann Road to a few other roads to IN 135 and in to Nashville. Once there, under mostly sunny skies, everyone started prepping their cars for judging. They also took time off to check out the two C7's on display, which most everyone took a chance to sit in and talk to the two Bowling Green factory reps. There certainly is a lot of interest in the new cars and even more are talking about purchasing one now that they have actually seen it. With rain coming, the awards were given out with Greg & Donna getting the peoples choice, Corvette Indy getting the participation award and Tom & Pat O getting the furthest distance traveled as they still have their Oklahoma plates on after only being here a few weeks. After those awards were given out, everyone then got a "Best of Show' plaque, a great memento of a great show. With rain threatening we headed out towards Edinburgh and Montana Mikes for a late lunch. While on the way it did start to rain a bit, but not enough for Greg to stop and put the top up! A newly chipped & sealed road slowed us down to a crawl, but we made it safely to the restaurant. While there we had a good meal and missed an absolute down pour, before heading back to Indy on a wet I65.
Everyone will have a bit of cleaning to do before going to the parade in Fishers on Sunday afternoon, but none of the Corvettes melted in the rain!
