Tudor Racing Days at IMS
The Thursday and Friday of the Brickyard Weekend at IMS were dedicated to the new Tudor Racing Series and the third Brickyard Grand Prix road course races. Since this was the Tudor's series first year and the new C7-R is now part of it Chevrolet held another day at the track for Corvette owners. As always our fantastic sponsor, Penske Chevrolet, was able to obtain as many tickets as club members and a few friends needed. In this case it was over 30 tickets, and with that many going Greg arranged for a motorcycle escort to the track. We again used the Trader's Point parking lots for a starting point and headed off to the track at around 10:30. Once at the track we were quickly directed to the Corvette Corral via the golf cart paths. The grassy area was right next to the mid track walkway, and also would later be a good vantage point to watch races from. The luncheon was held in the usual area behind the Pagoda, where we also met a few members that were working as flagmen during the afternoon races. We also had several interesting speakers from Chevrolet and race team sponsors give us in sites on the new 2015 Corvettes and tidbits about the race team and cars. There were even drawings later in the afternoon, which several of the remaining Corvette Indy members did well on. The racing was good with a Camaro winning the afternoon preliminary race. During the Tudor race a Corvette won the DP Class and overall while the C7-R two entries ended up 4th & 5th in the GT Le Mans class. A good day for Corvette and Chevrolet and a great day for all of the Corvette Indy members that were able to attend. Again thanks to Penske for making these events possible.
