Hunt for Best Tenderloin Day VII 7/12
Today’s adventure to Stookey's Restaurant started at 11:00 AM, with our early risers ready to drive their Corvettes for today’s drive and dine. The weather forecast called for nothing but blue skies. By 11:45 A.M. drivers meeting was held, advising caution when approaching a bridge on county road 1000 just after US 52 intersection due to a rough road condition, we were set to go at 12:00 Noon, we traveled west on county roads to catch State Road 39 so we could by-pass the road construction in Advance. But just before we were to get there, the Boone County Road Commission decided to “chip and seal” our path. Woops!! Now thanks to one our diners, they showed the easy way out and were back on our way with minimal loss time. At the restaurant, Stookey's chef had just cut and breaded fresh pork tenderloins right before we arrived. As usual, Jim and Pam were waiting for our group of adventurous diners to arrive.
The wait staff at the restaurant, were friendly and took our drink orders, and then our lunch entrées. Conversations abound and then, two orders of the ‘small order’ of onion rings were presented at one of the tables. Wow !! 10” tall and 9” wide full of rings, I would hate see what a ‘full’ order looks like. After lunch, Jon Stookey, the owner, presented each of us with a dish of peppermint ice cream. All in all nineteen members and two guest were treated very well as we look forward to the next hunt for the best tenderloin.
