Main Event June 6 & 7
Corvette Indy held their 26th Main Event at Lincoln College parking lot for the second year in a row. Saturday was a successful day with 29 drivers piloting 21 Corvettes and 1 Viper around the course. The weather even cooperated as it was cloudy and not too hot. One of the attendees enjoying the day was the school's new president as she got to ride along with a number of drivers and kept smiling after each one, including a 360 degree DNF run. Saturday events ran fairly well with all of the runs done by 2:30 and the track cleaned up by a little after 3 with all of the cones picked up and the trailer locked down for the evening. Everyone then headed home to get a good night's sleep for the second days running.
On Sunday the day was a bit warmer and much more humid, car and driver count remained nearly the same as three drivers did not return but we gained two new ones. After the course cones and timing setup and with things checked out Main Event again started on time. The day went well except for a course delay due to a missing suspension bolt somewhere on the track (it was found), and at the same time a dropping of oil at the staging line. After a relatively short delay the day continued quickly so that we were still done by 1:00. There were even several 'fun runs' afterward including non club members Butch, Frank, and Terry taking a hot lap. After the course was fully picked up, with most everyone gone, Rita found the 'missing' 50/50 ticket and was called back to the track to claim her prize. She also had to take a lot of good kidding over not checking her own tickets after going around to everyone asking if they had the winning ticket. The weekend was another successful one for the Club and our second year of affiliation with Lincoln College, with everyone looking forward to holding Main Event Number 27 next year at this location.
