2017 Butler Parade 10/21
This year's annual Butler Homecoming parade was again on a dry day, keeping their multi year record intact. As in all of the years that Corvette Indy has been in the parade Barry Rector was in charge and had plenty of Corvettes lined up to give the King & Queen contestants a ride to the homecoming game. Those helping out were John & Diana Albright, Gary & Marian Cole, Bud & Eileen Mitcheltree, John & Ruth Vess, Mark Hilligoss, Tim Johnson, John Phillips, Keith Riley, Mike Lewis, Bill Lapham, Erika Lapham, Jim Kellam, Pam Kellam, and since he did not have a contestant to give a ride to Tad DeWitt and daughter Araya brought up the rear of the parade with Pat Hogan and Barry in reserve and heading home at the start. The format of the parade was a bit different as each set of King & Queen contestants followed the float representing them instead of a line of Corvettes at the parade's end. There was also a reviewing stand where each float stopped and did a routine. The parade also became a bit longer than usual as the floats and Corvettes were turned down a street away from the stadium with the Corvettes doing a multi block circle to get their charges back in front of the stadium and the tailgating fans before game time. As always a lot of Fall fun and a great bunch of students that attend Butler and represent the school well. Barry's photos of the parade start are the first gallery while Bill's are in the second one and Diana has a page for all of hers.
