Spring Fling 05/04/14
Hoosier Corvette Club again sponsored Spring Fling as a Indiana Region kick off event, but this year it was held at their new sponsor location of Hubler Chevrolet on South US 31. Corvette Indy had a good turn out of cars and members as the club took the participation award along with Chris W's C5 & Wylie E's C7 getting class awards. About 24 Corvettes from Corvette Indy attended this year's Spring Fling which the Hoosier Corvette Club hosted on Indy's South Side. The day started with 15 Corvettes that caravan from Greg & Donna's house around I-465 to the south side. As they exited onto US31 S they were joined by 4 more Vettes that were waiting near Thompson Road and they just pulled in formation as we drove by. We're starting to get pretty good at this caravan thing! Looking at the reactions of the people around us is almost as much fun as driving the cars. One person sped up got way ahead of us, made a quick right turn on a side street, followed that with a u-turn back to the road, stopped and stuck his camera out the window and started filming! Eventually we got to the Spring Fling where our friends at Hoosier CC had saved an entire area in the front for Corvette Indy and we were able to park as a club and stay together. Nice job HCC, we appreciate it! All in all a very nice day with great weather for this time of year. We all enjoyed the food, drink and companionship. When it cam time for trophies, we weren't left out with Wylie & Rita taking home the hardware for BEST C7 and Chris & Paula winning BEST C5 honors! Congrats to both! In 2012 Corvette Indy won the Club Participation award, last year we had the most people there but only 3 Corvettes because it was raining kittens and puppies so we missed out but this year we again won the Club Participation award. A good show with lots of door prizes and a terrific start to the 2014 Corvette season! In attendance were: John & Diana A, Rich & Suzanne B, Greg & Donna B, Jeff B & Charity N, Alan & Judy C, Chris & Paula W, Randy & Sherry S, Jim & Shelley N, Joe & Kristen M and their children, Bill B, Randy S, Mark & Donna S, Bob H, Frank & Cathy C, Wylie & Rita E, Linda W & daughter, Susie H & Terry S, Barry R, John & Marg H, Al & Terri F, Steve & Mary, Mike C, Rick M, Kim C & Demetrius S.
