Ertel Winery Trip 09/07
During the summer a number of members that had gone last year wondered when another trip to Ertel Winery would be planned. After looking at available dates a small group decided to head there on Sunday September 7 and made plans for everyone in the club that wanted to to come join in. The group ended up with 11 Corvettes and 20 members heading to the Southwest of Batesville and the winery. Those in on the planning were Jim & Bonnie S, Bill & Erika L, Jim & Judi A, Bob & Barb Y, who were joined by Doug & Arminta I, Jim & Shelley N, John & Ruth V, Susie H, Rick H, Charlie B & friend LoRee. The group met up at the Paradise Cafe located in Hamilton Town Square along with another planner, Wylie E who came by to see the group off as Rita was not feeling well and he decided not to go. Also missing the day's trip were Greg & Donna B due to Merlin's Doggy Day Care not being open at 7 like it was supposed to be! Of special note was not only that Susie arrived 10 minutes before departure time also with a full tank of gas! Maybe she isn't kidding when she blames Terry for being late. Once under way we headed through Fortville and over to SR 109 to our early rest stop of the Speedway truck stop. While there Mike & Shirley B joined the group for the rest of the trip. With beautiful weather and good roads the trip was rather uneventful, with the group gaining 5 minutes on the ETA once they got on to IN 229 with no traffic in front. The winery had everything set up and the brunch was great with no one leaving hungry or thirsty. After the great buffet the group somewhat split up with several heading back to Indy via the I74 direct route with others heading North and driving on the 2 lane routes back home. Another great day was had by everyone enjoying the trip and time together.
