Squealers Won the Vote 05/14
With the weather being forecast for no rain and in the 70's Greg and Donna called a Retirees & Hookey Players DnD on Thursday May 14 to meet at their house at 1:00 pm. Once there the assembled group was given a choice of two places to head to, Squealers BBQ on 86th street or Red Robin on Michigan Road. After multiple tie votes late comer Wylie broke the tie with a vote for BBQ. Among the members were hosts Greg & Donna B, Bill & Erika L, Wylie & Rita E, hookey player Pat H, newly retired Mike T, and new members / first time DnD attendees Mike & Judy L, Mike S & Pete D. After being treated to a Frisbee show by Merlin the group mounted up and headed out in the most non direct route to our destination. With Eagle Creek road being in bad shape Gregg had to find an alternate route to check out the usual roads that he likes to use. To do this we headed in to Carmel to navigate roundabouts and wind our way back to 96th street and head West. Once on the West side we started driving our normal routes, but backwards which confused some. We finally turned around and retraced our route to unwind the confusion. A Mustang, that we had picked up along the way at an intersection, was nice enough to pull over to let the back half of the group go by. He then followed us, sometimes not negotiating the curves as well, but with traffic was able to catch up to us just before our destination at a light. There he pulled up by Bill & Erika and handed them some flyers as he is a IUPUI student who does car detailing. See a scan of his flyer at the end of the pictures. After 40 miles we arrived at Squealers just before 3, some took advantage of their lunch special while others opted for the retiree dinner. Everyone enjoyed their linner and the usual great conservation of the Corvette Indy group.
