Rising Sun Show 07/09
A hardy group of CI members and friends met at 6:30 AM to have breakfast and head to Rising Sun, Indiana for the Shiner Pride Band Car Show. This was the 21st year of this show that drew 400 cars and an additional bunch of trucks and motorcycles. In a very beautiful setting our members, Bill & Cheryl Reynolds, Al & Terri Forey, Rich & Suzanne Bellville, Randy & Sherry Sprague and Wylie Etscheid, along with old friends Chris & Paula White and Jeff Balow hunkered in for a long but beautiful day along the Ohio river awaiting the 4:30 trophy presentation.
Al & Terri and Rich & Suzanne were class winners while Sherry & Randy were Best in Class for the late models, taking home the biggest trophy of the season (literally 4 feet tall.)
Al Forey sent in the following write up and picture of his trophy:
5 CI members and a couple friends entered the open Rising Sun car show on Sunday July 9.
It was a beautiful day but became rather toasty in the afternoon even with a breeze off the Ohio river.
We were met with around 400 beautiful cars, most top shelf.
We arrived around 9:00. It seemed that every street in town was already filled.
Motorcycles, trucks, and then cars made-up the 3 general categories.
Within those categories, there were 6 separate classes organized by range of years.
I didn't see how I could win with the stiff competition present.
But we prevailed!
CI winners were the Bellvilles-class winners, Spragues-best of show winners within their class with their 427, and Foreys-class winners.
This was the most competitive car show I remember entering.
We did not take a group picture as is our custom since we had a 1 1/2 hour drive ahead of us.
A picture of yours truly is attached.
